The Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Chief Biodun Olujimi yesterday mourned the death of a prominent traditional ruler and the Onijan of Ijan Ekiti, in Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Samuel Oyewole Fadahunsi.

The royal father was reported to have joined his ancestors last week Thursday, after reigning for 19 years.

Oba Fadahunsi, from Otutubiosun ruling house, was enthroned on September 22, 2002, during the administration of Otunba Niyi Adebayo.

In a statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Olujimi expressed shock and disbelief at the demise of Onijan.

The Senator described the death of the revered monarch as unfortunate and a great loss to the people of Ekiti State, considering his contributions to the development of Ijan Ekiti and the State in general.

She noted that the late Onijan was dedicated and pragmatic in discharging his duties to his community, adding that, he would sorely be missed by the people of Ijan Ekiti and the entire state.

“I commiserate with the government and people of Ekiti state and the Ijan community in particular for this great loss. I condole with the family for losing such a dependable royal father

“It is on record that the late monarch did his best for the development of the State. Losing such a father at a time when his wise counsels are most needed is not only unfortunate, but a major loss to the government and people of the State.

“I pray that God grant the family, the Ijan community and the good people of Ekiti State the fortitude to bear this great loss”, Olujimii said.
