The North East Youths and Elders Peoples Forum (NEYEPF) has expressed satisfaction in the efforts of the North

East Development Commission (NEDC) to rehabilitate, reconstruct and rebuild the region, which was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgency.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National President of NEYEPF, Alhaji Salihu Magaji, who also disclosed that the forum has been monitoring and evaluating the activities of the NEDC in the region since its creation.

According to the statement, “The NEDC has met the purpose it was established for and the people of the region expressed joy as the commission has slated September 22 to 24, 2021, to inaugurate some of its projects and the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of 500 mass housing units in Adamawa State.

“In addition, there will also be flagging off of the distribution of food and non-food items to address the rapidly deteriorating food insecurity situation in the region especially Adamawa State.

“While in Adamawa State, the inauguration and handing over of Burn Centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, would cater for high incidences of burn injuries and other associated incidences in the state.”

It also stated the commission would also embark on inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction work at the three destroyed bridges on the Mubi-Madagali highway.

Some state government-owned Technology Skills Acquisition Centres currently are marked for resuscitation and operationalisation by the commission.

“Since the establishment of the commission it has awarded contract for the construction of 2,500, as part of its efforts to bring succour to the people of the region.

“1,000 buildings were completed in Borno State, while construction of 500 houses each was awarded in Yobe, Bauchi and Adamawa State,” it stated.
