A Landlord and Pastor, Mr. Daniel Obasi, was killed yesterday after his two-storey building under construction collapsed at 77, Tapa Road,, Oke Ojo Isawo in Ikorodu area of Lagos State at about 2.30 p.m.

The Southwest Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said that the police had taken the body to the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue.

Farinloye hinted that the collapsed building was an attachment to the main building in front of the collapsed structure.

He attributed the collapse of the building to inadequate timeline that would have allowed sand-filled land to compact properly before starting construction and poor building materials.

One of the neighbours, name withheld, disclosed that construction works were suspended today due to the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, adding that “workers were at work yesterday till late evening.”
