Sallah: Police Beef up Security in Ekiti

As Muslims celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir across the country, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command , Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, Tuesday deployed heavy security personnel on highways and praying grounds, to prevent kidnapping of any resident during the festive period.

There were security personnel at the Muslim praying grounds in the Capital city , Iworoko and Ikere Ekiti, on Tuesday , while men of the Safer Highways and anti crime patrol teams were also stationed at strategic portions of major roads that were susceptible to kidnapping.

A statement signed by the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Sunday Abutu, on Tuesday, confirmed that, the CP ordered the deployment of adequate operatives across the State to ensure a hitch -free celebration.

“The Commissioner directed the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officer(DPOs) to beef up security and ensure the deployment of Police personnel to all praying grounds and other venues of celebration throughout the State to ensure a smooth and successful celebration.

“The Safer Highway and Anti-Crime Patrol teams were equally deployed along major roads and highways throughout the State to ensure the safety of travelers, commuters and other road users. They are under strict instruction to be civil, polite and firm in carrying out their duties”.

Meanwhile, former Governor Segun Oni, has rejoiced with Muslims on Sallah’s celebration, urging the leaders to give the country an electoral system that will be in tandem with the expectations of Nigeria in the future elections.

Oni, in a statement said: “I want to use this occasion to remind our leaders, especially members of the 9th National Assembly and President Muhammadu Buhari, that the conduct of free, fair, credible and transparent elections is a service to God.

“Consequently, a Conference Committee of the National Assembly that will be saddled with the responsibility to harmonise the electoral bill must therefore, ensure an unconditional transmission of result in the Electoral Act 2021.

“I want to urge our lawmakers to demonstrate the fear of God and rise above partisan interest to bequeath to Nigerians an Electoral legal framework that will stand the test of time”.

Also, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC)in Ekiti State , Chief Demola Popoola, has reaffirmed that with prayers ,Nigeria is capable of confronting the current security challenges.

In his Sallah Message, Popoola admonished Muslims to give thanks to Allah(SWT) for sparing their lives to witness 2021 Sallah Festival .

“I am of the view that if we imbibe the noble virtues of our faiths by establishing the connectivity between religious teachings and practice, Nigeria will be a better place for us all”.
