Senate Committee Screens Lauretta Onochie, Five Others as INEC Commissioners

The Senate committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is about now screening President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie, and five other nominees as INEC Commissioners.

Other nominees being screened are Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti); Saidu Ahmad (Jigawa); Prof. Muhammad Kallah (Katsina) Dr Baba Bila (North-East) and Prof Sani Adam (North-Central)
Onochie’s screening despite protests against her nomination from stakeholders including the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is holding in Senate committee room 211 with the Chairman, Senate committee on INEC, Senator Kabiru Gaya presiding.

Other committee members on hand to screen the six INEC Commissioner-nominees are Senators Opeyemi Bamidele, Seriake Dickson, Uche Ekwunife, Shabi Abdullahi and Sahabi Ya’u.
