Court Remands Two in Ekiti for Raping Minor

An Ekiti State Magistrate Court has remanded two people, Suleiman Ojo and Owoseeni Owolabi, in correctional centre for raping minors.

In separate charges, the court ordered that Suleiman, 31, and Owolabi , 28, be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti pending the time their cases will begin.

Magistrate Modupe Salau granted the order as requested by the prosecutor, Adejare Elijah.

Adejare sought the leave of the court to allow him forward the duplicate case file to the office of Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

In the charge sheets, Suleiman was alleged to have committed the offence of child abduction and rape of a 16 -year old girl in Ado Ekiti, on 20th April, 2021 punishable under sections 225 of the Criminal Code Cap. C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012 and 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012

Owolabi was alleged to have raped a 20 year old girl also in Ado Ekiti on the 24th of June, 2021 contrary to section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap. C16 Laws of Ekiti state, 2012.

The matters were adjourned till 19th July and 5th August, 2021 respectively, for mentioning.
