FG to Train 600 Youths on ICT in Katsina

The federal government has announced plans to train 600 youths across the country on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Katsina State through the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) to avert youth restiveness.

The Executive Secretary, Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Dr. Bello Aliyu Gusau, who disclosed this in Katsina while on a working visit to the institute, said the youths would be drawn across the 36 states of the federation.

The visit was meant to assess the facilities on ground to enable the PTDF collaborate with the institute for the sponsorship of youths across the country to acquire various ICT skills proposed by the management.

Aliyu, according to a statement issued to journalists Sunday by the Head, Information and Public Relations of KSITM, Aminu Magaji Idris, was highly impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities at the institute.

While conducting the PTDF boss round the facilities, the Rector of KSITM, Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba, said the training to be offered includes computer hardware repairs and maintenance, website/database design and graphics design.

Others, he said, were phone installation and maintenance, internet of thing (IoT), video and audio editing, embedded system, networking essentials, fibre termination, installation and repairs, PCB Design and production as well as 3D design and production.
