Police, Hunters Arrest 2 Suspected Kidnappers

Men of the Nigeria Police and local hunters have arrested two suspected kidnappers at different locations in Ikaram and Akunu axis in Akoko area of Ondo State.

The suspects, were arrested when the local hunters and the police were combing forest, to rescue two persons that were kidnapped recently in the area.

The Vice Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Mr. Deji Obayan, said one of the suspects was arrested due to his curiosity.

Obayan said he saw a man on Thursday around 4:00p.m. when he was going to his hometown, Akunu.
The Vice Chairman said he intelligently drove to man’s side along Obayan farm a kilometre to Akunu and asked for his mission and the man said he was going to Lokoja.

However, it was observed that the man spoke flawless English and coherent messages but the dressing was very rough.

The man’s action made Obayan to invite members of Akunu Vigilante Group who came to carry the suspect to the military post in Akunu.
“When a search was conducted on the man, an ATM card, soap box, black dresses, and black underwear were found in his luggage.

“When he was searched whether he has phone, it was noticed that he recently had canal knowledge of a woman. He had been transferred to Ikare Divisional Police Office for proper investigation.
It was also gathered that the second suspect was accosted at Ajowa Akoko with an army identity card and his phone.

A source said that the man has been handed over to Okeagbe Akoko Police Division for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ade Gbodi an HND farmer kidnapped along Ikaram Okeagbe Road recently had been released.

A source said the man was released after the payment of an undisclosed amount of money as ransom.
The Akala of Ikaram, Oba Andrew Momodu, said the hunters, vigilante and police had were engaged in combing the forest.

The monarch appealed to government to come to their aid as fears have griped the residents of Ikaram Ajowa, Akunu and Ikakumo over the incessant kidnapping in the area that is affecting farming, commercial activities.
