Buhari Meets Chadian President in State House

President Muhammadu Buhari is about now holding bilateral talks with his Chadian counterpart, Idriss Deby at the State House, Abuja.

President Deby had arrived at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa at about 12:15pm to the warm embrace of his host, President Buhari, who introduced him to some members of his cabinet.

Present at the forecourt to receive President Deby are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; his Federal Capital Territory (FCT) counterpart, Mohammed Bello; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency( NIA); Ahmed Rufa’i and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd).
After the welcome ceremony, the two African leaders went in for bilateral talks in President Buhari’s office.

According to the visiting President’s program of events made available to newsmen, President Deby is expected to have a media chat after the bilateral meeting.
It was further gathered that the two leaders would deliberate on sub-regional issues including security challenges occasioned by the activities of Boko Haram insurgents.
The two Presidents’ last meeting was in June, 2019 on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) summit in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
