Gunmen yesterday attacked and abducted a businessman, Alhaji Abdullahi Kalos, at Minjibir town, 34 kilometres away from the Kano metropolis.

According to an eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, the gunmen invaded the private residence of the business mogul at about 1a.m. yesterday, shooting sporadically in the air.

The eyewitness said the gunmen, who came in a white Hilux van, two VW Sharon saloons cars and four motorcycles, and numbering about 12, bombarded the businessman’s resident and forcefully took him away.

It was also gathered that the abducted man is a popular dealer in electronics and appliances at Sabon Gari market in the state.

“We noticed that the kidnappers came from a short distance where they parked their vehicles. They shot sporadically into the air to scare people away. Nobody slept from that night till dawn.

“However, few minutes after locating the man’s residence, the criminals took him away,” the eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the gunmen also burnt a police van stationed at the front of the businessman’s residence after over powering the security men stationed there.

The state police spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, informing THISDAY that he was still gathering the details of the incident.

THISDAY recalled that last Tuesday, suspected kidnappers abducted a nursing mother and her baby after killing a vigilante at Falgore town in Rogo Local Government Area of the
