Oyo APC Resolves Crisis, Vows to Unseat Makinde

Prominent chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State yesterday met in Ibadan, the state capital, and vowed to settle all crises within the party and reclaim the state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC chieftains, who called on their supporters and members of the party to see themselves as one, insisted that the need to come together is necessary in sending the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, packing.

Present at the meeting held in Ibadan included the Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande; a former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu; Senators Soji Akanbi and Ayo Adeseun, and Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi who chaired the meeting.

Others were Chief Goke Oyetunji, Chief Niyi Akintola, Alhaji Fatal Ibikunle, Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, Bosun Oladele and Sunbo Olugbemi.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who is the Chairman of the communique drafting committee, Alhaji Waheed Olajide, and Chairman of NCC, Prof. Akande, who is the secretary of the communique drafting committee, the chieftains urged the various groups in the party to sheath their swords and work for the unity of the party in order to unseat the ruling PDP, disclosing that all contentious issues within the party have been examined and resolved.

The communique read in part: “Members of the APC in Oyo State were implored to resolve their differences and work for the unity of the party. All contentious issues that led to the crisis in the party were examined and addressed.

“The members were informed that there would soon be fresh registration of all members at a date to be announced.

“They were informed that the party will soon hold congresses to elect new executives in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”
