Adeboye Meets Buhari in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday met behind closed door with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye at the State House, Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, were at the meeting, which lasted for about an hour.

The agenda of the meeting between the President and the 78-year-old religious leader was unknown as at the time of filing this report.

Although details of the meeting were not disclosed as at press time, it is holding at a time prominent Nigerian clerics have complained about some sections of the newly signed Companies and Allied Matter Act (CAMA), which seek to regulate not-for-profit organisations, including churches.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), popular Christian clerics like Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Johnson Suleiman have condemned the sections of the law that give the government the power to appoint administrators for churches and non-governmental organisations under certain conditions.
