To complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, the law firm of Wole Olanipekun and Co. has made a donation of two ventilators at the medical facilities set up by the state government.

In a statement signed by the firm’s Managing Partner, Bode Olanipekun (SAN), the law firm expressed concerns and empathy about the pandemic, and commended the state government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in tackling the virus.

According to the firm, the hands-on, pragmatic, effective and responsive approach of the state government in tackling the pandemic resonates with Section 14 (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) (as amended) mandating the government at every level to make “the security and welfare of the people” its primary objective/purpose.

The statement further read in part: “On behalf of all members of our law firm, Wole Olanipekun and Co., we convey our heartfelt empathy to the government and people of Lagos State (under your able leadership) on the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. Our deep wishes and sincere prayers are with the people of the state and indeed the entire country in these trying, testing and difficult times.

“We commend the hands-on and responsive approach of the state government in tackling the pandemic. This resonates with Section 14 (b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) (as amended), which mandates governments at every level to make “the security and welfare of the people” its primary objective/purpose.

“We encourage the government to remain resilient in the face of the challenges of the present times, with the firm assurance that such emulative leadership will collectively galvanise all citizens to overcome the prevailing circumstance, with the hope and prayer that the pains of today will shortly be events of the past.

“To compliment the efforts of the state government in battling this pandemic, we of Wole Olanipekun and Co. hereby donate two ventilators. According to the law firm, the decision to donate the equipment was due to the global shortage of ventilators and the critical role they play in recovery of patients as well as the fact that the ventilators will still be useful after the period of the pandemic to satisfy other medical needs.”

By the contribution, the law firm joins the growing list of corporate Nigerians that have risen to the challenge of making substantial contributions to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
