Edo govt sympathises with Amadin Orphanage Home over fire incident

The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. (Mrs.) Magdalene Ohenhen has visited the Amadin Orphanage Home in Benin City to ascertain the level of damage caused by an inferno which gutted the building.

While sympathising with the management of the centre over the incident, Hon. Ohenhen said “I thank God Almighty for sparing the lives of the children as no life was lost as a result of the fire incident. This is worth thanking God for.”

She assured that the Ministry will come up with a report on the incident to be submitted to the Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, assuring that she is confident that the acting governor would look into the incident and take appropriate actions.

Proprietress of Amadin Orphanage Home, Mrs. Lucy Bello said the fire incident which gutted the building affected the centre’s vital documents. She expressed appreciation to God that no child was lost to the inferno as a result of the timely intervention of neighbours.

She added that the cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained, but the children housed in the Centre have since been relocated to another facility.
