The Senate on Wednesday commenced debate on the N8.83 trillion 2019 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 19, 2018.
The Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, who led the the debate on the Bill gave a breakdown of the budget estimates and urged the Senate to fast track debate on the Bill so that the Bill can be passed in earnest.
Contributing, the Deputy President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, talked about the Executive presenting the budget proposal to the legislature on time and not late like it did with the 2019 Appropriation Bill.
He, however, advised his colleagues to properly look into the budget estimates with a view to passing the budget as soon as possible.
