Nine years old Hakeem Abdullahi from Osun State is currently battling to stay alive due to a hole-in-the-heart condition he was born with.

Doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) had diagnosed him with Symptomatic Congenital Heart Disease, which they said would cost at least N4.5 million to repair through a surgical operation.

The hospital management said clinical evaluation confirmed the condition which it said was life threatening.

“Hakeem will require further cardiovascular evaluation and possible open heart surgery to correct his heart defects in order to forestall irreversible and life threatening complications,” the statement from LUTH reads.

The family is therefore calling on kindhearted Nigerians, philanthropic bodies and the government to come to their aid so little Hakeem can stay alive.
