Gwamna Describes Buhari’s Victory Beacon for Fight Against Corruption

Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has described the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari as well deserved and a symbol of hope for Nigeria’s fight against corruption.

Gwamna told newsmen in Gombe after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the APC’s candidate as the winner of the elections held on Saturday, winning with a margin of over 3.9million votes, that
the win had rekindled hope of a consolidation on the gains of the first tenure of the president, adding that the country was beginning to enjoy the gains of having an incorruptible leader at the helms of her affairs.

Gwamna said the people would be more relieved that the rigging plans of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) didn’t work, even as the several forces of political coalitions against the president also failed. He noted that Nigerians were celebrating as a result of the fact that by the president’s victory, there would be continuity in the dividends of democracy.

“President Buhari’s victory has rekindled hope of the country’s fight against corruption and the sustainability of good governance. If the president hadn’t won, the fight against corruption would have died naturally with the PDP.
“The victory has given Nigerians hope that those that plundered the country will not go free. I can tell you now that many of the governors who have served all their terms are very much afraid and may go into exile soon.

“We cannot develop as a people and nation if we keep running an administration without consequences for those who plunger the resources of the people as the PDP had done in the past. The current administration has done well to bring many to book and that’s cheering and heart-warming.

“We are happy that the president won with a better margin than 2015 especially in Gombe State where he won nine local government areas. That is an indication of the people’s love for a man who has made the poor his priority,’’ he said.

The APC chieftain advised Nigerians to stand with the president to ensure that he was not distracted by greedy politicians and enemies of democracy.

He also charged the electorates in Gombe State to transfer the victory mood into the governorship election on March 9, to pave the way for Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya to become the next governor in the state and cement the defeat of the PDP completely.
