Hajia Habiba Abubakar Changes Gear

Those who are familiar with the Abuja high society will attest to the fact that Hajia Habiba Abubakar is one of the high-flying ladies in the capital city. She is superrich and kind-hearted.

Her philanthropy, which has endeared her to the common people in Abuja and some parts of the North, has not gone unnoticed.

However, Society Watch gathered that the Kano State-born woman has soft-pedalled for some inexplicable reasons. She has also been absent in social functions.

This, a source revealed, has been a concern to her admirers, especially those she has touched their lives in the past.

‘’Hajia is such a wonderful woman whose love for the hoi polloi is unequalled, but she seems to have literally gone back stage in her philanthropic activities,” a source said.

Another disclosed that the beautiful woman could have decided to reduce her philanthropic gestures because she had been taken for granted by some of the people she has assisted.

“I hope she has not resolved to slow down because of the unappreciative tendencies of some of her beneficiaries,’’ the source revealed.

Before now, the woman, whose husband was Nigeria’s High Commissioner to India, had received awards, which included one organised by Africans in Diaspora in recognition of the contributions of her Foundation for the elderly and the poor, a non-government organisation (NGO) founded in 2006 in India. The NGO transcends national, ethnic and religious borders.

She also donated five hectares to build a school and an elderly home for the less privileged.
