Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has said he would not ignore the numerous calls on him to contest for the Nasarawa South senatorial district in the forth-coming general election.

The governor stated this on Saturday at the Government House, Lafia when he received in audience chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state and members of the Ta’al Grassroot Network who paid him a Sallah homage.

He said: “I cannot ignore the numerous calls on me, coming from eminent politicians from the Nasarawa South senatorial zone, to contest for the zone’s senatorial seat.”

However, the governor maintained that he will keep the cat in the bag until the whistle is blown for the commencement of political activities in the country in earnest.

He consequently advised the state’s Local Governments chief executives to always provide a level playing-ground for all persons aspiring to succeed him as governor of the state by 2019.

“I want to advise you the Local Government chairmen to accommodate all those persons aspiring to replace me. You should give them all the necessary support as they go round canvassing for support from the

electorates as I do.

Earlier, leader of the council chairmen delegation and chairman of Lafia local council, Aliyu Maipata, and that of the Ta’al Grassroot Network, Sarki Tanko, both appealed to Al-Makura to vie for the southern senatorial seat of the state as he completes his mandate as governor of the state.

Highpoint of the Sallah visit was the donation of a Sharon bus, T-shirts, bill board and posters by the Ta’al Grassroot Network to the governor in order to facilitate his senatorial campaign when he declares.
