Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has advised parents to pay attention to the discipline and moulding the character of their children, to enable them become responsible citizens capable of leading the country to greater heights.
Ganduje gave the adviceÂ on MondayÂ during the 2018 International Childrenâ€™s Day celebration at the Government House, Kano.
The governor explained that parents are responsible for what their children become in the future, hence the need for them to ensure that their kids are not morally defective.
He said that his administration is resolute in providing security, health care and education for the children to complement parental efforts in making them responsible adults.
â€œThis administration is committed to childrenâ€™s education and their overall well-being, because they are the legacy of Kano,â€™â€™ he said.
The governor further said his administration is committed to eliminating childhood killer diseases as well as reducing child/maternal morbidity and mortality rate in the state.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya ‘Yardada Maikano Bichi, appreciated the state governor for empowering women and providing qualitative education for the children in the state.
The Speaker of the National Childrenâ€™s Parliament, Hon. Maisara Abdulkadir, thanked the governor and his wife for their roles in supporting the less privileged children in the state.
He also expressed gratitude to the social and child welfare department in the state for supporting the vulnerable children.
Highlights of the occasion include the distribution of gifts of noodles and writing materials to the children present by the state governor.
