10 months old Nolan Bassey urgently needs at least N3.5 million for a hole-in-the-heart surgery, if he must live beyond the next two months.
Nolan, who was diagnosed at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in March, according to doctors, may not live beyond his first year birthday if no corrective surgery is done on his heart.
“LUTH referred us to Tristate Heart Centre in Babcock University, where we were then asked to provide N3.5 million for the surgery. But my husband does not have a job presently,” says Nolan’s mother, Rita Bassey.
She said she once approached Kano Heart Foundation, but was told they have over 1,000 children on the waiting list with the same heart condition.
“This surgery needs to be done before he clocks one year. He is already 10 months old. I am calling on kindhearted Nigerians to come to our aid. He is my third child and I do not want to lose him,” she added.
