Again, IG Shuns Senate’s Summons

By Damilola Oyedele in Abuja

For the third time in two weeks, the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has shunned the summons by the Senate to brief it on the killings across the country, and the maltreatment of Senator Dino Melaye in the hands of policemen.

Unlike the first two occasions where he sent the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Mr. Habila Joshack, to represent him, Idris did not send any representative on Wednesday.
There had been the hope that Idris would finally honour the summons after Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday to report the IG’s disregard for the parliament.
