Henceforth, Nigerian students who desire to study at the University of Dayton, Ohio, USA will be given the rare opportunity to qualify for undergraduate admission with WAEC and will be exempted from sitting the U.S. equivalent of JAMB called the SAT. This also means Nigerian students are exempted from applications fees too.
This groundbreaking partnership was announced by representatives of the institution in Nigeria during a press briefing held in Lagos recently.
The University of Dayton is a private, Catholic school in Ohio located about an hour north of Cincinnati and about an hour west of the state capital of Columbus. Students at the University of Dayton can choose from more than 80 undergraduate majors and many graduate programmes, including those in the schools of business administration, law, engineering and education.
The universityâ€™s staff recently visited Nigeria to evaluate the Nigerian curriculum at both secondary level and university levels and eventually concluded that Nigerian students will be exempt from additional entrance exams and given partial merit scholarships if they have good grades.
Consequently, undergraduate students with distinction average will automatically qualify for a 10,000 USD academic scholarship per annum. Students who are seeking postgraduate admission who have a 2:1 or First Class will be awarded a 5,000 USD academic scholarship.

Students can study MBA, Masters of Law, Public Administration, Cyber Security and a wide range of Engineering courses including Aerospace, Bioengineering, Civil, Renewable and Clean Energy, Electrical Engineering and more. Scholarships of up to 5,000 USD are available for postgraduate courses.
Students wishing to study their undergraduate degree at the University of Dayton require WAEC results, an international passport, proof of funding, and an application form for admission. The university, according to its Nigeria representatives, offers international students airport pickup, tailored student support, cultural acclimation and small class sizes for the first year. Courses for undergraduates include mathematics, finance, health and sport science, a range of engineering courses, graphic design, geology and more.
