Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the gang raping of a 19-year-old girl in Minna, Niger State.
Those arrested were 21-year-old Muhammed Sirajo, Shafi Muhammed and Muhammed Abubakar each aged 19 years and 16-year-old Musa Ilya.
They were all apprehended in the Barakin Sale area of Minna by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
It was learnt that one of the suspects had proposed to the girl but she declined which annoyed the boy.
As a result the boy reportedly mobilised his friends leading to their ambushing the girl who was on her way home.
Two of the boys were said to have held the girl down while another one held her legs while they reportedly took turns to have carnal knowledge of her.
The case was later reported to the NSCDC which swung into action leading to the arrest of the suspects.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Philip Ayuba, when contacted confirmed the story and the identities of the suspects.
Ayuba disclosed that the suspects had confessed to committing the crime, adding that they had been handed over to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution.
The commandant appealed to the general public to be security conscious and cautioned ladies against walking alone.
