The Dangote Rice Processing Mill with the production capacity of 250,000 metric tonnes per annum will be ready in Sokoto State this year.

The Group Executive Director, Corporate Communications of Dangote Group, Mr. Mansur Ahmed, made this known during a courtesy call on Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at the Government House, Sokoto yesterday.

He said Dangote Industries had already taken delivery of the milling machines which would be transported to Sokoto and installed as soon as land is secured.

“We have already identified 25 hectares of land suitable for the project and have our civil engineers on ground. Our plan is to start the construction next week which will take six months to be completed.

“We are hoping to commence production before the end of this year to the tune of 32 metric tonnes per hour and 35,000 metric tonnes per annum,” he said.

He disclosed that the company had already engaged 5,000 farmers under its outgrower programme in Goronyo and Kware local government areas and so far secured 2,000 metric tonnes of paddy rice.

The Groups Executive Director to this end, lauded Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his sustained support to the project.

In his remarks, Tambuwal assured the company that the state government would clear whatever impediment for them to hit the ground running.

“We will settle all the compensation latest by Friday and your certificate of occupancy will be ready next week,” he averred.
