Trailer Crushes Head Teacher, Assistant To Death

The fate of pupils of LA Primary School, Igbatoro/Familugba in Akure North Council Area of Ondo State now hanged as the only two teachers in the school were on Monday crushed to death on their way to the school.

The two teachers, Pastor Oluwajuwon Adebayo, and his Assistant, Pastor Sunday Ajenifuja, were crushed to death by a trailer at Upele Junction in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

While Adebayo was the head teacher while Ajenifuja was his assistant.

Though the school, L.A primary school is located in Akure North Council area, the road from Akure is not motorable which is why the alternative route is always through Owo-Ifon-Okeluse linking Familugba/Igbatoro.

It was gathered that the duo set out for the day’s work when they met their untimely death around 11a.m. when the trailer rammed into them.

The duo were rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Owo by some good Samaritans but later died.
The Education Secretary for Akure North, Samuel Olowere who confirmed the sad incident said the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB has been informed for necessary action.

Reacting to the incident, The SUBEB chairman, Princess Oladunni Odo who spoke through the Director of Schools, Clement Adesuyi, described the incident as very sad and commiserated with the families of the deceased.

Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Femi Joseph, who confirmed that incident, described it as a case of ‘carelessness, reckless and dangerous driving by the trailer driver whom he identified as Juwon
Ariyibi, a staff of Cobil Limited, Port Harcourt.

Joseph said Ariyibi is already in police custody and would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
