Police Shot Dead Armed Fulani Herdsman in Nasarawa

The police in Nasarawa State have confirmed the killing of an armed Fulani herdsman during a cross fire with the police at Nguchi village, a suburb of Kadarko town where seven Tiv farmers were killed last Monday by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Command, Idirisu Kennedy, confirmed the killing as he said the herdsman was shut dead during an exchange of gun fire with security men deployed to restore peace in Kadarko town.

He explained that the herdsman opened fire on the team of policemen upon sighting them but the supperior fire power of the police gunned him down.

The PPRO said: Investigation was ongoing to unravelled the killing of some cows and seven people in Kadarko and those found wanting would be arrested after police investigation.”

He therefore advised both parties to come to round table and settle their diferences to allow peace a chance.
