Robber Shoots Colleague, Submits Self to Police

A 23-year-old suspected armed robber at the weekend shot dead his partner during an operation in Azikoro, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Surprisingly, the hoodlum identified  as Peter Napoleon, the police said, handed over himself  to the authorities a day after committing the act.

The suspects had about  8p.m. on the day of the incident  attempted to attack one Francis Chibueze along the Azikoro Village road in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, when Napoleon mistakenly fired the shot that killed Thankgod Smith, his partner.

A statement from the Police Public Relation Officer of the Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat, noted that the victim,  Chibueze escaped unhurt after Napoleon fled the scene.

“On December 22, 2017, at about 2000hrs, a gang of two armed robbers attacked one Francis Chibueze of Bakery Road, Azikoro Village, Yenagoa.

“Luck ran against the gang as one of the robbers mistakenly shot and killed his partner. The victim Francis Chibueze escaped unhurt.

“The deceased armed robber was identified as Thankgod  Smith ‘m’ 25 years,  and his partner who shot him is Peter Napoleon ‘m’ 23 years.

“Policemen swung into action, and the suspect in hiding panicked and came to the Azikoro Police Station on December 23, 2017 on his own volition and confessed to the armed robbery and killing of his gang member.

“He led Police detectives to an uncompleted building on Bakery Road, Azikoro Village, where the gun was recovered,” the police said.
