Dickson Directs Immediate Payment of December Salaries

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, wednesday directed the Commissioner for Finance and the treasury team to commence the payment of December salaries to cover civil servants in the state from thursday, to ensure they celebrate Christmas.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Francis Ottah Agbo, explained that Dickson, who gave the directive during the 85th state executive council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, appreciated the workforce for their contributions and sacrifice to the state.

Governor Dickson, who advised Bayelsans not to celebrate the Christmas in a manner that will dishonor Jesus Christ, noted that, Bayelsa still remains one of the safest states in the country, stressing that, the government is committed to tackling the recent upsurge in crime rate in the state, especially in Yenagoa, the state capital and called for the cooperation and support of all.

The governor also announced plans to hold an interactive session with the organised labour in the state soon, as well as the formal presentation of next year’s Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly tomorrow.

He thanked the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd), Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ebibai and other members of the team for working assiduously to ensure the completion of the bill.
He wished the Bayelsans and other residents of the State a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
