Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, youths in the South -east, under the aegis of South Eastern Youth Movement for Atiku Abubakar have started canvassing support for the presidential ambition of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

The group declared their support using the slogan; Hope 2019: Atiku is coming, after its inaugural meeting in Awka yesterday.

Coordinator of the group, Mr. Maxwell Umeaba, speaking during the meeting said the group had its stronghold in the five states of the South- east and had resolved to support the former Vice President to realise his presidential ambition in 2019.

He said, “We have resolved to come together to take our destiny into our hands. We have raised army of voters in all the states in the South- east. Atiku’s defection to PDP is a welcome development towards reshaping the country and Nigerian youths believe in him and we will strongly support him.”

The group said the former vice president was a tested hand, whose works during his reign as vice president distinguished him. They also said that as a good businessman who has overseen several successful businesses, Nigeria would be in safe hands if he is elected.

“Atiku has managed many businesses successfully and he will manage the affairs of the state to give hope to the youths of the country.” Umeaba explained.

He regretted that the present administration under APC had relegated the youths and denied them of inclusiveness in governance.

A member of the group, Mr. Ezenwafor, reaffirmed that the youths of South-east had vowed not to go back in supporting a leader, who will provide opportunities for youths to excel.
