Baby Face Vows to Inflict Pain on ‘Painless’ Ngige

Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde, the light welterweight boxing star, has vowed to inflict maximum pain on Chijioke “Painless” Ngige when they clash for the vacant national title at GOtv Boxing Night 13 on December 26.

The event, which holds at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, will provide a proof of Baby Face’s progress since his discovery at GOtv Boxing NextGen 1 in Lagos. He is yet to suffer any loss and emerged best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 11, winning a cash prize of N2million.

“Painless will receive maximum punishment and pain. This title is something I have been dreaming of and I don’t see how Painless can stop me. I have fought better boxers like Oganla and Tombraye. They fell. Painless too will fall, but not before I inflict plenty of pain on him,” bragged the soft-spoken 22-year old.

The headline bout on the night will see Nigeria’s Oto Joseph take on Abdulrahim Ahmed of Egypt for the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title.  The explosive Olaide Fijabi will also fight for the ABU light welterweight title against Michael Odhiambo of Kenya.

Another important match-up is the one that will see Abolaji Rasheed defend his West African Boxing Union (WABU) middleweight title against Arye Ayiiteh of Ghana.

The event, which will feature musical performances by Small Doctor, Simi, Falz and Reekado Banks, will equally see Rilwan Oladosu go up against Kehinde Badmus, while Jimoh Lukman will fight Rilwan Opatola. Both fights are in the lightweight division.

In the middleweight division, Matthew Obinna will fight David Awosika in a challenge bout. Tickets for the event are available online at ariiyatickets.com, SLOT and Ebeano Supermarket outlets, Freedom Park and National Stadium, Lagos.

Free bus rides are available to take ticket holding fans from the stadium to the venue and back.
