Thisday Arise TV “Global News” Presenter Marries her Nollywood Fiancee

Thisday Arise TV “Global News” presenter, Toyosi Phillips got married to her beau, Nollywood actor and director, Daniel Etim Effiong. The duo met while working on a project in August 2016.

They tied the knot on November 4, 2017.

Daniel Etim Effiong is a trained engineer turned actor/director. During a long break in university, he attended NFI Jos for a diploma in Motion Picture Arts. When school resumed he completed his degree in Chemical Engineering and worked in the oil and gas industry for a few years. He eventually turned his full attention to the arts and moved to South Africa where he studied Motion Picture Medium at AFDA, Johannesburg. His first acting break came when he got a role in South Africa’s biggest soap opera, Generations. Since then he has acted in different TV series and movies in Nigeria and South Africa.

He’s also a stage actor, recently completing his tour with stage production, “Shift Lemme Faint”. He has written, produced and directed TV series and shows including Ndani TV’s Officer Titus. His personal project, Crimson, won the $10,000 Kumlar Dumor award at the 2014 Afrinolly Short Film Competition. His portfolio also includes directing commercials for Facebook, Shell, MNet, Unilever and a few other companies. He’s currently working on several projects that will be released in 2018.

Toyosi studied Economics at Bowen University and University of Nottingham. She worked at Guaranty Trust Bank for a few years and then like Daniel, decided she wanted to focus on the arts. She moved to New York City and attended the New York Film Academy for two years bagging a diploma in Broadcast Journalism and Producing for TV. She worked with SaharaTV New York as a producer and presenter.
