Obi Ikenchukwu Foundation (OIF) is set to unveil the Grace Ikenchukwu Scholarship Scheme for Girls (GISSG) and honour nine outstanding women leaders including Queen Amina of Zaria; Queen Idia of Benin; Queen Moremi of Ife; Chief (Mrs.) Bisoye Tejuoso; Mrs. Margaret Ekpo; Mrs.Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti; Mrs. Folayegbe Akintunde-Ighodalo; Chief (Mrs.) Folake Solanke; Chief (Mrs.) Margaret Amechi.

According to a statement made available to THISDAY by the founder of OIF, Princess Genevieve Ikenchukwu, the initiative is in line with the dream of the late Queen Grace Ikenchukwu, whose aspiration was to become a lawyer. It also stated the GISSG was established to invest in the lives of indigent girls.

On why the foundation has chosen to offer scholarships this year, she explained that “education is at the core of our existence at the OIF, especially the education of our girls. I strongly believe that investing in the life of a girl child and orphans in the society invariably means investing in the economic and social future of that immediate community, State and/or Country. It also means liberating the community.
