Wife of Taraba State Governor, Anna Ishaku has inaugurated a rehabilitation centre in Jalingo for victims of drug abuse victims in the state.

Inaugurating the centre, which was put in place through the instrumentality of her Hope Afresh Foundation, the governor’s wife noted that the centre was established to help victims of drug abuse get out of the scourge.

She equally revealed that she was inspired to establish the centre by the revelation during her statewide campaign against drug abuse that victims of drug abuse are scattered across the state.

She expressed confidence that the inauguration of the centre would go a long way in attaining a drug free society and by extension have less crime and other social vices.

“In the course our campaign against drug abuse across the state, we discovered that there were victims that needed rehabilitation and that is why we have to establish a centre. I believe that a drug free society will certainly have less crime and other social vises” she stated.

Ishaku explained that the foundation had partnered the state government in areas of man power for the centre and for sustainability adding that another non-governmental organisation based in the United States of America equally donated items to the centre.

Deputy Governor of the state and Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Haruna Manu commended the governor’s wife for her relentless efforts at tackling the menace of drug abuse in the state.

He assured the governor’s wife that the state government would continue to support the laudable programmes of Hope Afresh Foundation for a better state just as he pledged that government would complement the Foundation to replicate the centre in other parts of the state.
