The Pastor, Celestial Church of Christ of International Headquarters, Rev, Josiah Owodunni, has warned of members of the Celestial Church parading themselves as pastors to desist from such act, adding that they are constituting bad eggs and giving the church a bad reputation.

Owodunni who disclosed this in Lagos, at the World Press Conference to announce the 70thPlatinum Anniversary, said they are worried about the bad elements fighting the successful growth.

He also stated that the church constitution provides anyone who wants to be a pastor in the church must be appointed by the incumbent pastor to act as his successor, adding that the constitution doesn’t provide for two pastors shepherding the flock of Christ.

Owodunni further noted that before the death of the founder of the church, he appointed him as his successor, noting that the church hierarchy knew it, but some members who felt disgruntled were not happy and wanted to occupy the position.

He lamented that the spirit of pride has affected some members of the church, therefore they are working contrary to the will of God, and urged them to imbibe the spirit of humility in their service to God and man.
Speaking on the anniversary, he stated the event would provide the church the opportunity to think, reflect on God’s goodness over the church, adding that it is not a time for jamboree.

He added: “We are using this anniversary to think critically of what we didn’t achieve as much we expected. On September 29, by 4p.m. we will have full service at the International Headquarters in Ijesho Tedo, and on October 1, there will be thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. I want to state here that Nigerians should give President Muhammadu Buhari some time, and he has done a lot. What is happening to Nigeria is not peculiar to us alone. Every country has its ups and downs. We need to support the administration.”
