The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, last week said looters were the ones sponsoring the agitations by the Indigenous people of Biafra in order to destabilise the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It is okay to make allegations, especially one that attempts to throw light on an issue, but certainly when such allegations cannot be substantiated before the law let alone in a basic conversation, it becomes a problem deliberately ignited through incautious propaganda. What Alhaji Mohammed has done is an effort to further politicise a rather volatile and sensitive issue.
There should be a limit to propaganda, because ultimately it demystifies those pushing it. The IPOB matter is a sensitive one at this time in the nation, particularly given the ethnic slant to it. It is therefore not one to be coloured or adorned in the garb of politics. It will not only complicate things, but stoke further crisis. Here and now, let all sides observe caution.
