Maku: Nasarawa Govt Has Received N275bn from FG Since 2011 Emmanuel Ukumba in Lafia

National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labaran Maku, has said that the Nasarawa State government received about N275 billion since 2011 from the Federal Government.

Maku, a former minister of information, stated this yesterday when commissioning a Multipurpose Hall donated by Majalisa Macido Foundation to Nunku community in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.” A government that has collected nearly N275 billion since 2011 and most people have not changed shirts on their backs not to talk of cars or houses,” he claimed.

The APGA Scribe said that the state government got the N275 billion from the monthly federal allocations, the Federal Government bailout fund to states as well as the Paris Club Loan Refund, even as he added that “the state is unable to pay salaries of its civil servants.”

He therefore noted that “it is clear now that the state government is of injustice. If you look at its development programmes it is tormenting of the masses of this state. Salaries have now become 10 per cent. A government that refused to pay workers and decided to use the money to execute contracts.

“A government that has shut down Local Governments and have stopped functioning. A government that shut down schools and many students could not write JAMB, WAEC and NECO examinations this year.”

He continued that he is working towards a movement that will change Nasarawa State and make it a focus of development that will bring peace to the towns and villages so that people can go to farm to sleep there and come back the following day without attack, likewise to the grazers who can go to the bush and graze their cattle without attackand the kidnapers will not have business in Nasarawa State.

According to him, “these are possible only with a leadership that is focused, experienced and tested and has the capacity and capability to do so. Therefore, it is important for me to emphasise that as we match towards 2019, the Nasarawa North senatorial zone must make it clear to everybody that we do not expect anybody from the other zones to paste postal that they are looking for governor in 2019.

“On a serious note, anybody from Keffi or Lafia zone that put postal on the wall for 2019 will be unethical since the creation of Nasarawa state” he concluded.
