Following the nationwide strike embarked upon by resident doctors, patients on admission at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi are now at the receiving end as they have been left unattended to.Â
The patients and their relations complained bitterly on Tuesday when THISDAY went round the hospital, as they urged the doctors to suspend the industrial action and resume work.
One of the patients, Lance Corporal Yunusa Yusuf, an injured soldier who was on a wheel chair, explained that he had been in the hospital since morning without being attended to.
Speaking to THISDAY outside the Surgical Ward of the Teaching Hospital, Yusuf who is serving with the 313 Artillery Air Defence, Minna, sustained a neck fracture during a bush exercise along Jos road in Bauchi.
Yusuf, who had been receiving treatment at ATBUTH without any problem until the strike, said he was injured on October 26, 2015, adding that: “I am here with my son and my younger brother since seven this morning.
