Eight Feared Killed in Two Attacks in Plateau

Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State has come under two gruesome attacks by gunmen.

The first attack led to the killing of a chief, Haruna Merren, the Galadima Manguna and three others, while the other, suspected to have been carried out by armed robbers, led to the death of another four.

It was gathered that in the first incident, gunmen numbering about seven laid siege and killed Marren who was recently installed as theGaladima of Manguna at about 9p.m. last Wednesday at his Pharmacy shop in Tadai village of the local government area.

A source from Tadai said the gunmen shot Marren and the three other victims identified as Mashat Bala, Benjamin Rafan and Idi Bucho at the Pharmacy premises and ensured that they were dead before escaping into the night.

Bokkos communities that are predominated by farmers have since then been enveloped with fears and tension, as residents have abandoned their farms, and were seen discussing in low tunes and mourning the deceased.
In a related scenario, the suspected robbery incident in the early hours of yesterday that led to the death of the other four, also left three others fatally injured.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Terna Tyopev, confirmed that some persons were reportedly killed in Bokkos, but added that the information before him as at press time was still sketchy.
Also confirming the incident, the Information Officer of the Special Task Force (STF) on security in the state, Captain Umar Adam, said the command was yet to get the details of what really happened.
