NPC to Engage in House-to-House Registration of Under-5 Children in Bauchi

The National Population Commission (NPC) has concluded arrangement to commence the house to house registration of children under the age of five years across the state.

The Bauchi State Director of the commission, Alhaji Musa Haruna, made the remarks Saturday in a Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) Live  phone-in programme. 

Haruna said 3,000 ad hoc staff have been trained from across the 20 local government areas of the state to conduct the exercise which will last for 10 days.

According to him, the exercise will jointly be supervised by the commission, the European Union and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

He said all registered children will instantly be issued with certificates by the registration officials, adding that the purpose of the registration exercise was to provide statistical data of children under the age of five in the state for development objectives of the state.
