OSOPADEC Vows To Track Fleeing Contractors, Consultants

By James Sowole in Akure

The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) at the weekend vowed to pursue and track down all the contractors and consultants who have collected mobilisation fees but failed to do their jobs or those who executed contracts given to them below expectation.

The Chairman of the commission, Mr. Olugbenga Edema, stated this at a maiden meeting of the commission’s new board and management with 81 contractors and 15 consultants working with the commission.

However, Edema promised that the commission would do everything possible to encourage contractors and consultants that take the jobs of the commission seriously.

He said having contractors at their sites would get idle youths off militancy into productive engagements.

He promised regular interactions with the contractors, while assuring them that their complaints would be looked into.

Earlier, some of the contractors and consultants had spoken of non-release of funds to them as the major problem hindering the completion of their jobs.

They however, expressed confidence in the state government and the new board of the commission to give inactive projects a new lease of life.

The meeting which was the first of its type by the commission, was attended by the entire board members as well as the management and staff of the commission.
