Kanu to Visit Families of Slain IPOB Members

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has stated his intention to visit all the families of IPOB members killed by Nigeria security operatives during the IPOB peaceful rallies and protests.
The publicity secretary of IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful stated this in a press statement made available to THISDAY in Awka yesterday. No date was given for the visits.

Powerful said Kanu with his entourage will embark on the visit to show solidarity and condolence to the families and communities of those who died in the struggle for Biafra restoration since 2014.

Nkpor in Anambra State, National High School Aba in Abia State, Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Mbiama in Baylesa State and Okwei Primary School in Asaba Delta State are some of the places Kanu and his team will visit, being locations where IPOB members had been killed in rallies.

The press statement also reads, “Moreso, our leader will visit the parents and homes of those IPOB protesters who were killed for Biafra to be restored. He will also pray privately in the places where they were killed, in order to appease the spirits of those who died.”

The group also reiterated their resolve to ground activities in the South-east for the proposed sit-at-home protest, meant to honour all those who lost their lives in the Biafra struggle.

“As the 30th of May 2017 is drawing nearer, we wish to remind Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of Biafra freedom to stay at home in honour and remembrance of those Biafran soldiers that died for us to live and Biafra children who were starved to death through the policy of British and Nigerian Governments during the genocidal war against the people of Biafra between 1967 and 1970.

“It will be a landmark achievement and remarkable event, it is our duty to remember and honour them on 30th May by staying at home, no business and movement both human and vehicular is expected on that particular day,” Powerful added.
