Dickson Condoles with Families of Bayelsa Accident Victims, Thanks Enugu Governor

The Bayelsa State Government yesterday condoled with the families of a teacher who died along the Enugu-Onitsha road and parents of several other students who sustained severe injuries during a road accident.

The incident which involved 40 people, including pupils whose ages ranged from seven to 15 years, were on an excursion to the Ngwo Forest in  Udi Local Council, Enugu State, before the accident.

Their bus reportedly fell into a gully with many of them sustaining multiple fractures, lacerations, cuts and swellings on their faces.

A statement by the state Information Commissioner, Jonathan Obuebite, also condoled with the management of D’ Unique International Academy, Igbogene over the tragic accident and thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for deploying four ambulances to rescue the victims.

“The Bayelsa State government also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Enugu State governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the government for its show of brotherly love by promptly despatching a team of medical personnel.

“He also  sent ambulances to the scene of the accident to ensure that the victims received urgent medical attention,” the Bayelsa government said.

According to Obuebite, Dickson, the government and people of the State will remain eternally grateful to Governor Ugwuanyi for his personal intervention, which ensured that the injured received quick medical attention.

“Reports have it that based on the governor’s directive, the children and their teachers were conveyed from the scene of accident to four different healthcare facilities in Enugu, as majority of the victims sustained various of degrees of injuries.

“The report further disclosed that while others were stabilised soon after arriving at the different medical facilities, one of the teachers gave up the ghost late in the night.

“While wishing the injured a quick recovery, the Bayelsa State government prays God to grant the family of the dead staff the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement concluded.
