Sunshine Stars Head Coach, Kayode Olujohungbe, believes his side can cause a stir by becoming the first side to inflict defeat on El Kanemi Warriors at their home patch in this season’s top-flight.

The Owena Waves are guests of the Warriors in Maiduguri, where the hosts boast a fearsome record this afternoon as the NPFL enters Match-day 11.

Olujohungbe is upbeat about his side’s chances and predicts that his charges will upset the applecart against the overwhelming favourites.

“A few years ago, everyone was saying (another NPFL club,) Kano Pillars could not be defeated at home.

“However, no one says that anymore because teams now go to Kano and win.

“Any side can lose at any time and I am looking forward to a good game over there (in Maiduguri),” he told supersport.com.

Sunshine Stars are currently riding the crest of a wave after defeating highly-rated Rivers United, who finished as NPFL runners up last term, 1-0 in Akure on Sunday.

The Akure club currently occupies 11th place in the NPFL standings with 12 points from 10 matches while El Kanemi Warriors have shocked many with their fine start to the current campaign.

The Maiduguri club is in second place on the log with 18 points from 10 matches.
