Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has said President Muhammadu Buhari is the only person in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that believes in fighting corruption in the country.
Besides, he noted that the APC, just like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacks political ideology and are comprised of people of strange bedfellows who are today in the parties based on political tourism.
Fielding questions from journalists in Jalingo yesterday, Bwacha, who represents Taraba South in the National Assembly, said while the president is committed to ridding the country of corruption, other APC members are busy stealing money because they are used to stealing.
Bwacha, who was in Taraba to distribute ambulances, cars, tricycles, motorcycles and over three thousand six hundred bags of rice to beneficiaries of his empowerment programme to his constituents insisted that other APC members don’t believe in what the president is doing, saying theirs is business as usual.
According to him, “Buhari is the only person believing in anti-corruption but other APC members are busy stealing money. To them, it is business as usual because they don’t believe in what Buhari is doing. They are used to stealing.”
He, however. expressed happiness that President Buhari has started the fight against corruption stressing that it is better to begin than not starting at all adding ‘better also is the end of a thing than the beginning’
Bwacha further stated that though the fight against corruption is being regarding in some quarters as one sided, what is important is that the battle has started and people who stole money are being exposed which if continued, would make people to be scared of corruption.
He, however, predicted that both APC and PDP would die a natural death because they were not built on any ideological stand which has made movement from one party to the order of the day among politicians.
He noted that the recent judgment of the Appeal court that upheld Ali Modu Sheriff as National Chairman of PDP has thrown open an opportunity to serious politicians to go back to the drawing board and think of building a platform that has ideological leanings.
