Bello Releases N2bn to Former Political Appointees

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has released the sum of N2 billion to the immediate past political office holders in all the 21 local government councils of the state owed by the former Governor, Captain Idris Wada, as part payment of their salary and severe packaged.

The governor disclosed this at the weekend when the Chairman, National Councillors Forum, Kogi State chapter, Hon. Musa Abdullahi Adekeke, and the Secretary, Hon. Muhammed Idris Omale, led about 512 members on a thank you visit to the governor.

According to the governor, his administration would continue to welcome whoever was ready to work with him, adding that everybody in the state belongs to his administration.
Bello stressed that his administration has paid former chairmen and secretary of local government councils part of their salaries and severance package owed by the immediate past administration.

According to the governor, his administration would do everything possible to take care of civil servant in the state, noting that virtually all genuine workers have been paid up till December.

The governor who donated 18-seater bus for the forum, promised to appoint numbers of the forum to key positions in his administration.

Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Adekeke, in his address, thanked the governor for releasing the money as part payment of their salaries and severance package to all former political office holders at the local government councils, as he appreciated the dogged determination of the governor to transform the state in the area of infrastructure development.

“This will help in no small measures to engage handful number of our youths in gainful employment, thereby reducing the incidences of crime in the state and its environs,” he said.

The forum therefore appealed to the governor to provide 5,000 All Progressives Congress (APC) membership cards to them and their numerous supporters and approve a date for their official and formal decamping to APC.
