The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, ATCON has added another feature in its cap,as it updated its information platform to a web based model in order to enhance its media reach.
The association which before now used to communicate happenings around the Information Communication Technology,ICT sector via newsletter noted that the latest move was necessary in order to increase its presence on the web and give it huge media mileage.
The new website, www.atcon.ng/atconnews was unveiled recently by the Executive Vice Chairman,EVC, of Nigerian Communications Commission,NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta at a grand reception ceremony organised by the association in honour of the EVC. The EVC noted that the latest development was a good step from the association which will keep telecommunications operators as well as industry stakeholders abreast of innovations and update in the sector.
According to the President of ATCON,Olusola Teniola,the site will be useful in particular to NCC, National Information Technology Development Agency (NiTDA),members and non members of the association,government at all levels as well as local and international stakeholders.
Teniola added that the new platform offers to champion an enabling environment for the telecommunication industry as well as to influence government policy and to guide current and prospective investors.
The initiative which was also put together as a way of giving back to members of the association,it is believed, would further reposition ATCON as an institution that is forward looking and presided over by investment driven minds.
