The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ali Ahmad and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, Kingsley Chinda, have confirmed participation as panelists at this month’s budget colloquium to chart paths of reform for Nigeria’s budgetary process.
The Colloquium is conceived by OrderPaper.ng, Nigeria’s premier independent parliamentary reporting portal to address contentious issues on the budget and will bring together several top government officials from both arms of government to share ideas, perspectives and experiences on the appropriation process as dictated by the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The high-profile event billed to hold on September 26, 2016 in Abuja, will attract attendance and participation from critical stakeholders in the executive, legislature (national and state assemblies), academia, media, Nigeria’s development partners, civil society organisations, community-based organizations, private sector and other stakeholders, including political operators across partisan divides.
While Ahmad is billed to speak on the panel on ‘Budget and Constituency Projects’ Chinda will join other key stakeholders to discuss the keynote address to be delivered by the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma whose paper will focus on ‘Budget as a tool for efficient executive-legislature relationship.’
