It was all anguish in Jos on Monday morning as four members of the same family: father and three children were all consumed in the rage of a fire outbreak at Jenta Adamu area of the city, leaving their remains charred beyond recognition.

The victims – Anthony Kwanmi, a retired Police officer and one-time aide de camp to former governor of the state, Mr. Fidelis Tapgun, and his three children – met their death in the most cruel manner about 3 o’clock on Monday morning when an electric surge allegedly ignited the unquenchable inferno.

Eye witnesses said the four were held captive due to the fortified security barricade in the house, preventing neighbours from gaining entry to render help.

Kwanmi’s wife and a daughter, who escaped by the whiskers, but not without severe burns, are now receiving treatment at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BhUTH), Jos.

The eye witnesses narrated that the wall of the house had to be broken by neighbours that struggled to rescue the wife and a daughter.
