The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos has confirmed Bulus Pam Bot as the traditional head (Gwom Rwei) of Foron District in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state.

Giving its judgment in an appeal suit no.CA/J/318/2013, Justice Joseph Tine Tur observed that the appellant, Da Noel Kim, “being a traditional ruler, ought to have confined himself to the performance of his traditional functions and duties, but certainly not to get involved in partisan politics or to stand in the way of ruthless politicians who may not tolerate criticism or dissent concerning their political manoeuvres”.

Regretting that the appellant failed to draw wisdom from the Bible particularly Psalm 1:1-3, Justice Tur noted further: “Traditional rulers who stand in the way of politicians will certainly be putting their offices in jeopardy, or to be rubbished.

“This appeal, though partly successful, is not sufficient to foist upon the respondents the appellant as theGwom Rwei of Foron”.

Invoking section 15 of the Court of Appeal Act, 2004, the Appeal Court ruled that “this appeal stands dismissed”.

Da Noel Kim had challenged his dethronement as the Gwom Rwei of Foron by the Plateau state government on May 14, 2003, and the selection of Da Bulus Pam Bot of the Lo-zam Dyeng Saben Ruling House but lost the case at the Jos High Court presided over by Justice Mohammed Othman.
